Trump: “I Don’t Care” If Iran Plays in 2026 World Cup.

Trump Shrugs Off Iran’s World Cup Participation Amid Rising Tensions

In a recent interview with POLITICO, U.S. President Donald Trump made headlines after stating he “doesn’t care at all” whether Iran participates in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Iran has already secured its place in the tournament, yet it was notably absent from a preparatory meeting of participating nations held in Atlanta. The absence has sparked speculation over whether Tehran will ultimately send a team to compete in the United States, especially amid escalating regional tensions. Questions also remain about whether visas would be granted to Iranian officials if the team decides to attend. Trump dismissed the issue, describing Iran as “a very badly defeated country” and saying they are “running on fumes,” signaling that the matter holds little importance to him politically.
