Guardiola Leads Manager of the Season Nominees

Six coaches shortlisted for the Premier League’s top managerial award after impressive campaigns across England.

Pep Guardiola has been nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Season award for the sixth time after guiding Manchester City through another title-challenging campaign.

The Spaniard joins a competitive shortlist that includes Mikel Arteta of Arsenal, Michael Carrick of Manchester United, Andoni Iraola of AFC Bournemouth, Keith Andrews of Brentford, and Régis Le Bris of Sunderland.

Guardiola, who last won the award in the 2023-24 season, is chasing his sixth Manager of the Season crown. Only Alex Ferguson has won the award more times, lifting it on 10 occasions. City remain firmly in the title race, sitting just two points behind league leaders Arsenal with two matches left to play.

Arteta has also enjoyed a remarkable campaign as Arsenal push for their first Premier League title since the famous 2003-04 “Invincibles” season. The Gunners have combined defensive discipline with consistency, winning 24 of their 36 league matches so far. Arsenal’s ability to grind out narrow victories has been key, especially their seven 1-0 wins this season.

One of the biggest surprises on the shortlist is Carrick, who transformed Manchester United’s season after taking charge in January following the departure of Ruben Amorim. Under Carrick, United have won 10 of 15 matches, including major victories against Arsenal, City, and Liverpool. The Red Devils are now close to securing a third-place finish and a return to Champions League football.

Iraola’s nomination comes during an emotional final season at Bournemouth after confirming he will leave the club at the end of the campaign. Despite that announcement, Bournemouth have continued to impress and are unbeaten in their last 16 Premier League matches. European qualification and even an unlikely Champions League spot remain possible for the Cherries.

At Brentford, Andrews has exceeded expectations in his first season in charge. The Bees have become one of the league’s most organized defensive sides while still competing for a European place. Brentford’s defensive numbers this season are their best since arriving in the Premier League, proving Andrews has brought stability and tactical discipline to the squad.

Le Bris has also earned praise after guiding newly promoted Sunderland into a strong season back in the top flight. Sunderland have been one of the league’s toughest defensive teams, keeping 11 clean sheets so far — an impressive achievement for a promoted side. Their performances have given fans hope of a top-half finish and a bright future under the French coach.

With the title race, European spots, and historic achievements all still on the line, this year’s Manager of the Season competition reflects one of the most competitive Premier League campaigns in recent years.
